Stagecoach State Park Visitor Center Exhibits

Colorado Parks and Wildlife

With a reservoir at the center of this state park, water resources was bound to be a central story. The owner of the dam and reservoir—the Upper Yampa Water Conservancy District—quickly became a key partner in the project. Due to agency procurement requirements, this project had a very compressed timeline: from initial site visit in April, to completion of install in December.

The Visitor Center had recently been completed, without a plan for visitor education and circulation. ECOS proposed feature exhibits to draw in and engage visitors in a multi-purpose space also used for camper questions, ranger programs, and more. The central 3D terrain model of the reservoir and surrounding lands serves the staff’s need for general orientation, suggesting activities, and for education programs. The full-wall underwater fish mural immerses visitors in the watery world of fishing and fish stories at Stagecoach and far downstream.

ECOS was great to work with from start to finish. Their team took our initial thoughts and ideas and transformed the look and feel of our Visitor Center with amazing displays. Their expertise and experience made the process smooth and efficient. And their communication was amazing! From the initial site tour and team discussion through installation, they were constantly checking in to make sure we were comfortable with everything.
