Shell Mahogany

Shell Exploration is developing a cutting-edge technology to extract oil from underground shale in environmentally responsible ways—and looked to ECOS to tell its complex story. ECOS crafted a balanced and forthright “voice” to express the trade-offs between potential benefits and drawbacks of large-scale oil shale production using Shell’s process.

With exhibit visitors ranging from industry professionals to local Colorado officials, the exhibit system needed to reflect Shell’s robust industrial image and still complement a western rural expression. Large steel beams create strong vertical elements that support interactive elements, videos, and tightly crafted interpretive graphics.
